Stelios Katsanevakis is the project coordinator. He is Associate Professor in marine ecology with extensive experience in fieldwork on Mediterranean marine ecosystems.
His research in recent years has focused on the ecological approach to marine management, on conservation biology, biological invasions, and the development and application of methods of ecological monitoring with emphasis on underwater visual monitoring methods.
He has coordinated or participated in several national and international research programs (eg EASIN, MESMA, DEVOTES, AFRAME) and is (co)author of > 180 scientific publications of which 94 in international scientific journals.
He is also the coordinator of the MarCons COST Action - Advancing marine conservation in the European and contiguous seas (http://www.cost.eu/COST_Actions/ca/CA15121).
